Step 1 — Find A Tool Keyword

Tool keywords have a few telltale signs:

Each one ranks within 7-14 days of launch.

Each one cost about £10/year for the domain.

Step 2 — Buy The Exact Match Domain

Once you've got a tool keyword, buy the exact match.

Netlify or any registrar — enterpriseseocalculator.com style.

If .com is taken, try .io, .app, .tools, or stack a word in front.

Don't waste hours on this — if the keyword is solid and the domain is taken, move to the next keyword.

There are infinite tool keywords.

Step 3 — The DeepSeek Tool Prompt

Here's the prompt I feed DeepSeek (use Expert mode, Deep Think on, Search on):

"Build a [tool name] tool plus landing page as a single HTML file. The tool should [describe what it calculates/generates]. The landing page should explain what the tool is for, who it's for, how to use it, and include 4-6 FAQs. Style: modern, clean, mobile responsive, strong contrast colour palette. Add a popup CTA for [your offer link]. Optimise every heading for the keyword '[keyword]'. Write the copy in 1st person, UK English, sentence per line. The full output should be one self-contained HTML file ready to deploy."

Hit enter.

Wait 90 seconds.

DeepSeek spits out a working HTML file with the tool functional, the popup wired, the styling done.

Click "Run" inside DeepSeek to preview before downloading.

Step 4 — Iterate The Design

DeepSeek's first output is usually 80% there.

Common tweaks:

Each tweak costs one prompt.

Two or three rounds and the page looks production-ready.

For complex tools, I'd switch to OpenClaw + DeepSeek V4 Flash for the build phase — covered in my Claude code AI SEO post.

Step 5 — Deploy To Netlify

Three options.

Option A — Drag and drop. Download the HTML, drag onto Netlify Drop. Live in 30 seconds.

Option B — Netlify CLI. netlify deploy --prod --dir=./ from the local folder.

Option C — Hand the agent your Netlify token. OpenClaw or Claude Code with your Netlify personal access token can deploy directly. Most automated.

I use option C for production tools.

Once the EMD's DNS is pointed at Netlify, the tool is live on the keyword-matching URL.

That's the SEO win.

Step 6 — Add The Conversion Mechanism

Don't ship a tool that doesn't convert.

Bake in at least one of:

DeepSeek will write the popup copy if you tell it the offer.

Don't skip this.

A tool ranking #1 on Google with no conversion mechanism is a vanity asset.

Step 7 — Submit To Indexing

Don't wait for Google to find you.

Submit the URL to:

Trending tool keywords often hit page 1 within 7 days of indexing.

What To Build Next

Once your first tool ranks, the playbook compounds.

Build a sister tool on a related keyword.

Build an "advanced" version with more features.

Build a comparison tool that pits your tool against alternatives.

Each new tool feeds the others with internal links and brand authority.

5 tools in a niche = SEO dominance for tool keywords in that niche.

10 tools = you own the category.

That's the long game.

Common DeepSeek SEO Tool Mistakes

Building a tool nobody searches for — research the keyword FIRST, build SECOND.

Skipping the conversion mechanism — ranking without converting is a vanity exercise.

Letting the design look generic — DeepSeek default styling is fine but average. Iterate to premium.

Forgetting mobile — half your traffic is mobile. Test it.

Ignoring the EMD strategy — exact match domains punch above their weight on long-tail tool keywords.

Not interlinking your tool to your blog — every tool should link to your supporting blog content.

Is DeepSeek really capable of building working tools?

Yes — for single-page tools (calculators, simple generators) it's excellent. For complex multi-page apps, you'll want a real coding agent.

How long does it take to ship a tool?

30 minutes from "I have a keyword" to "live on Netlify". Including design iteration.

Will Google penalise EMDs in 2026?

Long-tail informational EMDs still rank. Brand-style EMDs got nerfed in 2012. Tool keywords are usually long-tail informational.

Can I rank without backlinks?
