Two jobs get mixed up here. xAI's documented shopping features are for buying. Running a store is a different job, and Grok Bot does it through its browser, Gmail, Sheets, routines and a handful of connectors.

This page splits the two. Every workflow below names the feature that powers it, so you can check it against xAI's docs and the Grok Bot changelog.

If you want ready-made AI agent workflows for a small store, plus weekly coaching, the AI Profit Boardroom is $69/mo. If you'd rather map your store's workflows one to one, book a free AI strategy session.

What Grok Bot for ecommerce can and can't do

Grok Bot is an agent that works on a cloud computer. All of your Bots share one computer, and each Bot gets its own screen on it.

For a store, three building blocks matter most:

What the docs don't list: a Shopify, WooCommerce or Amazon Seller connector. Treat your store platform as a website the Bot reads and works in through its browser, and keep anything that changes the live store behind an approval.

For the broader picture, see Grok Bot for business and the Grok Bot connectors guide.

Running your store with Grok Bot: five copyable workflows

These are illustrations. Swap in your own products and sites.

1. Weekly competitor price check

A two-person candle shop could run this as a routine every Monday morning:

"Open these five competitor product pages in your browser. Record product name, listed price, sale badge and stock status in the Competitor Prices sheet, one row per product with today's date. If a page fails to load, write 'not checked' instead of guessing. Do not change anything in my store."

What it produces: an updated Google Sheet with a link per row, ready to compare week to week.

2. Product descriptions from your own files

Grok Bot reads PDF, CSV, spreadsheets and images. Attach a supplier spec sheet and your product photos, then ask:

"Using only the attached spec sheet and photos, draft a title, a 120-word description and five bullet points for each product. Flag any claim the spec sheet doesn't support. Return a Google Doc."

Once the format is right, save it as a skill. Skills are reusable instructions shared by all your Bots, so the next batch follows the same rules.

3. Customer email triage with drafts only

Give the Bot its own address (it gets one at mail.grokbot.com), or connect Gmail. Then set an email routine:

"When a customer email arrives, label it Order status, Return, Product question or Other. For order status and product questions, draft a reply using the FAQ doc. Do not send anything."

xAI's docs say an email a routine writes "waits as a draft" until you press Send, and email from others is treated as information, not instructions. If your support runs through Zoho Desk or WhatsApp Business, those connectors are in the docs' table. More on this in Grok Bot for customer support.

4. Monthly review summary

"Read the reviews on these three product pages. Group complaints and praise into themes, quote one example per theme with its link, and list anything you couldn't read. Return a short slide deck with speaker notes."

A slide deck with speaker notes is one of the reviewable results xAI's docs name.

5. Daily order and ad report

This one borrows the shape of the docs' Paid media role, which ends with "Do not change budgets or send the message."

"Every morning, pull yesterday's orders from the store admin and spend from Google Ads and Meta Ads. Put them in the Daily sheet. Draft a three-line Slack update for #store. Do not change budgets or post."

Grok Bot ecommerce buying: restocking and order tracking

This is where the documented shopping features fit. The v0.78.1 release notes say shopping shows products as cards with photos, rating, price and store, in-stock options come first, and "Buy now starts an order you approve." After an order, the Bot tracks it and tells you when it ships or arrives, with the carrier and stage on a shipment card.

A sample restock prompt:

"Find 200 kraft mailer boxes in this size from two suppliers. Show the options as cards. Don't buy yet."

Then: "Go with option 2. Use Buy now and wait for my approval. Track it and tell me when it ships."

The v0.77.0 notes add the Order Concierge and Deal Watcher templates. They track orders, refunds and returns, and watch prices and coupons, "never buying without your OK." Full walkthrough: Grok Bot shopping and Grok Bot templates.

Grok Bot for ecommerce guardrails: approvals and Vault

Read this before you save a card. xAI's Vault docs say: "A card saved in Vault fills in at checkout without asking you each time, and no setting requires your approval for each use."

So set it up this way:

The Bot never sees a saved card number or security code. Check the invoices and order confirmations you get against what you approved.

Who Grok Bot for ecommerce fits, and who it doesn't

Grok Bot for ecommerce FAQ

Does Grok Bot connect to Shopify?

xAI's connector list doesn't include Shopify. The v0.77.0 changelog says saved logins and cards fill more reliably on Shopify checkouts, which is about buying from Shopify stores. To work in your own Shopify admin, the Bot uses its browser.

Can Grok Bot buy stock for my store on its own?

Buy now starts an order you approve, and the shopping templates never buy without your OK. A card saved in Vault fills in without asking each time, so skip saving it if you want to approve every payment.

Can Grok Bot answer customer emails automatically?

A routine can read and label mail and draft replies. Per xAI's docs, routine email waits as a draft until you press Send. See Grok Bot routines for trigger setup.

Where should a small store start?

Start with one read-only job, like the weekly price check. Fix the output, save it as a skill, then turn it into a routine. Join the AI Profit Boardroom for templates and coaching on AI agents, or book a free AI strategy session to plan your first routines for Grok Bot for ecommerce.
