My entire SEO department is a folder of markdown files that never forgets. That is genuinely what Hermes SEO skills are — plain text instructions my agents follow to handle the keyword research, trend spotting and content drafting I used to lose whole mornings to. After ten-plus years doing SEO, I have built processes, hired teams and bought every tool going, and nothing has compounded like this stack. Teach a task once and it runs forever. Correct a mistake once and the fix is permanent. In this guide I will show you how the skill system works, break down the five skills running my actual SEO right now, and give you the honest routes to building the stack yourself.

How Hermes Skills Actually Work

A skill is a plain markdown file with three parts: a name, a description that tells the agent when to use it, and step-by-step instructions for doing the job. That is the entire anatomy. No code, no prompt engineering degree. If you can write a checklist, you can write a skill.

Hermes ships with 80 skills out of the box — everything from an email skill to research routines — and it learns new ones as it goes. When it works out something hard, it saves the method as a skill file so it never has to work it out again. That is the same mechanic behind my book-brain PDF setup: the agent cracked how to digest full books once, wrote the method down, and now it is simply a thing it does.

Type /journey and you see every skill and memory laid out on a timeline — a literal map of what your agent has learned. That timeline is usually the moment people get it: you are not using a tool, you are training a staff member who never resigns.

The Hermes SEO Skills Stack

These are the five skills doing my SEO right now. Not hypotheticals — the actual files.

1. Hermes Astros — The Keyword Hunter

Astros is my keyword skill, and the clever bit is where the keyword list lives: right inside the skill's instructions. Edit the list once and Astros hunts your niche forever. It monitors those terms, finds what people are actually searching around them, and turns each search into a content idea with a suggested title — all pulled from live search data rather than a stale export. Keyword research used to be a quarterly chore. Astros makes it a standing patrol.

2. The Search Console Skill — Mining Wins You Already Have

This one connects to Google Search Console and pulls the keywords my site already shows up for. Then it hunts the ones sitting on page two or the bottom of page one — positions 11 to 13 lighting up as easy wins — and drafts content targeting those exact terms. Before it writes a word, it reads my memory vault, so the drafts sound like me rather than a blank AI.

And this skill matters double now. Pages ranking in the top 10 are the ones AI answers pull from, so every position-12 keyword it drags onto page one feeds two channels at once: Google traffic and AI citations. One skill, two payoffs.

If you want the whole SEO skill stack without writing it yourself, the AI Profit Boardroom ships the Agent OS with Oracle, Muse and Astros pre-wired — you just edit the keyword lists. → Get the stack

3. Hermes Oracle — The Morning News Radar

Every morning on a schedule, Oracle scans what is breaking in the industry. It runs several search passes, ranks everything by audience relevance first and freshness second, then hands back exactly six signals. Each comes with a headline, why it is trending, a content angle, a ready opening line and a source link. Six — not a firehose of forty links I will never read. Oracle is the trend-hunting input for my fast-ranking system, and because it runs on a schedule — the same way bot mode keeps agents working while I am away — the radar is on whether I am or not.

4. Hermes Muse — The Winner Analyst

Muse reads my own content channels every morning and ranks what is performing, including how fast pieces are climbing — a video sprinting on day one matters more than one coasting on old momentum. Then it finds the patterns in the winners and forges next ideas riding those patterns: titles written in my style, confidence scores on each, and one-click routing to video, image or article production. Oracle tells me what the world cares about; Muse tells me what my audience has already voted for. Between them, I never start the day staring at a blank ideas doc.

5. The Indexing Step — Closing the Loop

Publishing without indexing is printing flyers and leaving them in your garage. You did the work; nobody sees it. So the final step is fast indexing — I use Indexceptional — pushing every fresh URL to Google while the topic is still hot. This is what turns the stack from a content machine into a ranking machine: trend found, content drafted, page indexed, all inside the same day.

The Memory Glue: Why the Drafts Sound Like Me

Every skill in the stack reads my vault first — past writing, offers, voice — before it touches the job. That vault-first habit is the difference between drafts I publish and drafts I bin. A blank AI writes like the average of the internet; an agent that has read your last hundred pieces writes like you on a good day.

The vault is also why the stack survives model swaps: new model, same vault, nothing re-taught. I have covered the full setup in my guide to memory for Hermes agents, but the short version is this — skills are the hands, memory is the taste, and you need both.

Why Skills Beat Prompting for SEO

Prompting re-explains the job every single time. You type the context, the format, the rules — then tomorrow you type it all again, slightly differently, and get slightly different results. Skills are the train-once machine: write the method down once and every future run starts from your best version of the process.

The part that sold me is the self-upgrade pattern. When a run gets something wrong, I correct it once — and the agent writes the lesson into the skill file with a date. Next run, it is simply better. Corrections become permanent instead of evaporating when the chat closes. I first watched this click while building skills for marketing, and it matters even more in SEO, where the rules shift monthly.

The 24-Hour Pipeline in Action

Here is how the skills chain together on a live run:

  1. Oracle finds the trend — one of the morning's six signals is fresh, relevant and barely covered.
  2. The skills draft the content — vault-first so it sounds like me, titled in my style, targeting the trend.
  3. Indexing goes out the same day — Indexceptional pushes the URL while search demand is still climbing.
  4. Rankings get checked — the Search Console skill picks up the new positions and flags the next optimisation.

That is the 24-hour trend-to-ranking system from my Grok SEO playbook — the proven run of this exact pipeline. The tools at each step can change; the skill chain is the constant.

The Compounding Argument

Here is the maths that matters. A Hermes SEO skills stack banks lessons weekly — every correction, every pattern Muse spots, every near-win the Search Console skill converts gets written into the files. Someone prompting from scratch starts at zero every morning. The gap between a stacked setup and prompt-from-scratch does not hold still; it widens on its own, week after week. Most SEO advantages decay. This one accrues.

How to Get the Stack

Route one: build it yourself. Skills are readable markdown — if you can write a checklist, you can write a skill. Start with one job you repeat weekly, write the steps, add a description telling the agent when to fire, and sharpen it run by run. My agentic SEO skill guide walks through a full build if you want a pattern to copy.

Route two: start from mine. The Agent OS ships with Apollo, Oracle, Muse and Astros wired in — pre-written skill files you edit with your own keyword lists, rather than blank pages. You still make it yours; you just skip the drafting months.

On models: which brain runs the skills at any moment comes out of my Goldie Bench side-by-sides — and because the vault and the skill files hold everything, swapping a new winner in loses nothing.

Hermes SEO Skills: FAQ

What are Hermes SEO skills?

Plain markdown files that teach a Hermes agent a repeatable SEO job — keyword monitoring, Search Console mining, trend scanning, winner analysis. Each has a name, a description of when to use it, and step-by-step instructions. Teach the task once and it runs forever.

Do I need to code?

No. Skills are markdown — readable text. If you can write a checklist for a new team member, you can write a skill. The hard part is deciding the process, not writing the file.

Which skill should I build first?

The Search Console skill. It mines wins you already have — keywords sitting at positions 11 to 13 — so it pays off faster than anything chasing brand-new topics.

Do they work with any model?

Yes. The skills and the vault live outside the model, so they survive brain swaps. When my side-by-side testing crowns a new model, I point the same skills at it and nothing needs re-teaching.

How is this different from Claude skills?

Same idea — reusable markdown instructions — and I run a Claude AI SEO skill too. My stack runs them on Hermes agents, which layers on the scheduling, the memory vault and the self-learning loop.

Verdict

Hermes SEO skills turned my SEO from a job I do into a system I own. Astros hunts the keywords, the Search Console skill converts the near-wins, Oracle spots the trends, Muse reads the scoreboard, and indexing makes sure Google actually sees the output. Every week the files get sharper, and none of it needs me to re-explain a thing. Ten years in, this is the closest thing to compound interest I have found in SEO.
