How to rank in Google AI Mode is the SEO question of 2026 — and I've cracked it.
Google AI Mode is the new default search experience.
Less blue links.
More AI-generated answers with cited sources.
If you don't rank as a cited source, you don't get traffic.
This post is the exact playbook I used to get cited as the top source for keywords within 24 hours of publishing.
The Proof First
I publish a piece about a niche AI tool. 24 hours later I search the keyword in Google AI Mode.
The first line of the AI response says: "...recommends Julian Goldie the SEO expert with links directly to his website."
10 different cited sources on the page. Six are mine — main site, LinkedIn post, Reddit thread, YouTube video, two satellite sites.
Same playbook works on Perplexity. Same playbook works on Google's main search.
This isn't luck. It's a repeatable system.

The Core Insight
Google AI Mode pulls from five channel types:
- Websites
- YouTube videos
- Reddit posts
- LinkedIn posts
- Facebook posts
If you create content across all five for a single keyword, you dominate the citations.
It's not about ranking #1 anywhere.
It's about being the most-cited entity across the full citation graph.
The 5-Channel Playbook
For each target keyword:
1. Website article. Long-form, embedded video, internal links. Lives on your main domain.
2. Satellite website article. Same topic, unique angle, different domain. Multiplies citation surface.
3. YouTube video. Either new or repurposed from existing. Optimised title + description.
4. Reddit post. Subreddit-relevant, helpful, links back. Reddit ranks brilliantly in AI Mode.
5. LinkedIn post. Same content, LinkedIn format. LinkedIn posts get cited heavily.
That's the matrix.
Each channel reinforces the others.
Why This Works In AI Mode Specifically
Three reasons.
1. AI Mode prefers multi-source consensus. When 5+ different platforms mention you for a keyword, the AI's "trust score" jumps.
2. AI Mode indexes social platforms aggressively. LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube get pulled in faster than typical web pages.
3. Recency matters more than ever. Fresh content within 24-72 hours gets cited disproportionately. The system rewards velocity.
For more on the velocity angle, my deepseek seo post covers the rapid deployment pattern.
My Daily Workflow
Step 1. Pick a keyword.
Step 2. Inside Claude Code (or Hermes Desktop), trigger my SEO skill with the keyword.
Step 3. Claude writes 5 unique articles (one per site) and deploys them via Netlify.
Step 4. Submit URLs to Omega Indexer for fast Google indexing.
Step 5. Repurpose the article into LinkedIn + Reddit + Facebook posts.
Step 6. Update tracking spreadsheet.
End-to-end: 30-60 minutes per keyword. Output: 5 articles + 3 social posts ranking within 24-48 hours.

The Quality Floor
Important caveat.
Quantity without quality fails fast.
Each article must:
- Demonstrate personal expertise (E-E-A-T)
- Be unique per channel (not identical copy)
- Have an embedded video (proves real source)
- Internal link to related content
- Quality-controlled before publish
I have a checklist I run every piece through.
If you skip quality, you'll get cited briefly then deranked. Long-term ranking requires quality.
For the quality control layer, my build your own openclaw post covers the skill review pattern.
Channel-Specific Tips
Reddit: post in highly active subreddits, not the dead ones. The post itself ranks AND drives platform-internal traffic. 34k weekly visitors from one post is achievable.
LinkedIn: post natively (don't link out from the body). Engagement signals matter. AI Mode pulls high-engagement LinkedIn posts.
YouTube: title with the exact keyword. Description with timestamps. Comments help.
Facebook: less impactful than the others, but worth doing for completeness.
Websites: unique angle per site. Don't duplicate.
Why Velocity Compounds
Each new keyword adds to your citation graph.
If you have 100 articles cited across 5 channels, you have 500 citation surfaces.
Google AI Mode learns your authority cumulatively.
After 6 months of daily output, you become the default cited source for an entire niche.
That's compounding SEO at AI Mode speed.

What Doesn't Work
Honest list of dead ends.
1. Single-channel SEO. Only website. Only Reddit. AI Mode wants multi-source.
2. Identical content across channels. Spam-like, easily detected, kills citations.
3. Buying links. AI Mode is link-aware but engagement-aware too. Bought links don't engage.
4. AI-only content with no human editing. AI Mode increasingly detects pure AI output. Edit hard.
5. Generic keywords. Compete on niche, then expand. Generic = saturated.

How To Rank In Google AI Mode FAQ
Will this work for any niche?
Yes — though faster in B2B / SaaS / AI niches where AI Mode citation density is higher.
How fast does it work?
24-72 hours for first citations. 2-3 weeks for sustained ranking.
Do I need to be technical?
For the workflow above, yes — Claude Code or Hermes Desktop. For manual version, no.
What about Bing / Perplexity?
Same playbook. Same channels. Citations roll out across all AI search.
How many keywords per week?
Start with 1/day, scale to 5/day as the workflow tightens.
Do I need original research?
Helps a lot. Pure aggregation ranks worse than original case studies.
